Almond blossom, ripe nectarine, apricot, & honeycomb are apparent upon first sniff, balanced by a citrus-like freshness and mineral elements. A bright entry then builds power with ripe, honeyed stone fruit, melon, and mint. Framed with a flinty aspect and a miniscule marriage of sweet oak, the Roussanne carries great weight, finess, and an alluringly long finish. |

Stag's Leap Fay 2004 (Napa Valley) |
A beautiful perfume of violets, dark cherry, and licorice introduce the 2004 FAY Cabernet Sauvignon and lead the way to luscious flavors of plum, chocolate, and candied ginger, with savory notes of sandalwood and tobacco. Soft, juicy tannins and a silky-smooth mouth feel are a hallmark of this wine, rewarding those who enjoy it in its youth as well as those who will enjoy it after many years in the cellar. For a heavenly pairing, try this wine with cinnamon spiced quail, or rosemary leg of lamb. |

Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 (Napa Valley) |
Deep & dense, very dark red color & a nicely open nose on rich fruit (peach, nectarine, dried fruit) & more complex aromas that suggest caramel & a touch of mint. A smooth & substantial attack brings beautifully textured tannins, close-grained but already well integrated, striking a fine balance between structure & flavor. Round & lush on the palate, the fruit flavors expand on notes of vanilla & toast. The rich & powerful finish reflects both the solid tannic structure & the superb potential of this still-young vintage. |

Cain Five 2003 (Napa Valley) |
The 2003 is a classic Cain Five. Ripe and balanced, with floral notes, it will drink well now and in the next few years, and it should also show well 10 to 15 years from now. This is a firmly structured wine—the nose is discretely subtle, a very pure cassis is hiding in the background —it sings a quiet, clear note all the way through to the end. The full, sweet entry fills out to a satisfying mid-palate, leading to a long, smooth finish. |

Ladera Lone Canyon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 (Napa Valley) |
This wine is exuberant in color and the aromas are alive with spicy and herbal fruit. The nose is further complimented by earthy, brambly undertones and silhouettes of cola. A full bodied entry hits the palate with enticing flavors of blackberry and dark cherry. The wine is layered with textures that are bold and masculine yet maintain tannins of a velvety character. The dark and ripe fruit flavors intertwine with the tannins to carry through to a long and plush finish. |

Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Leognan 2001 |
Like its more famous neighbor, Haut-Brion, the 2001 La Mission Haut-Brion has closed down considerably since bottling. A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, it possesses an inky/purple color (deeper than Haut-Brion’s) in addition to a tight but promising bouquet of scorched earth, wood, tar, black currants, and a hint of hickory wood. Medium-bodied, firm, muscular, and virile, it is a candidate for long term cellaring. |

Leroy Nuits St. Georges 1986 |
"1986 was always hard in its youth," commented Bize-Leroy. "'85 was easier but '86 is often more racy." A ripe, woodsy bouquet, with cherry and mineral notes introduces this fine yet firmly structured red. It's focused by lively acidity, ending with a long aftertaste of spice and mineral. Drink now through 2020." 90 Points - Wine Spectator, March 9, 2006 |
